Tunesday: Bruce Peninsula – “Shutters”

It’s Tuesday so that means at, it’s Tunesday! Every Tuesday, we will share a song with you that we love and hope you will too. Today, Amanda picks Bruce Peninsula.

Last night I stumbled upon a band that has seduced me into a head-over-heels love affair. I don’t know how I haven’t heard of them before since their first LP was released in 2009, and they were making music even before that. Now, my surpise is not because I feel like I’m super tuned into the world of music. It’s because I can’t fathom why they haven’t taken on the world, yet. They are SO unique, SO good, and SO interesting.

Oh, wait. I guess for those exact reasons, they are under the radar.

From their Wikipedia, “Bruce Peninsula is a Canadian indie rock band, whose style has been described as “a near indescribable and rousing potpourri of prog, gospel, folk, rock, pop and country.” (And that’s a quote from here.)

So, if you haven’t heard them, take a minute and ponder what that could possibly sound like. It’s unimaginable, right?

How about NOW?! I hear prog, gospel, folk, rock, pop, and country all playing well together in there!

So, yeah, I have been geeking out over them for hours now, and the great thing is that you can stream all of their songs from their website. Be like me – glut yourself on them, feel amazing, and figure out how to save enough money to buy everything at once. Go! Do it now! (Additionally, their website is really cool from a design standpoint!)
